Siêu dữ liệu vs Metadata

Thuật ngữ "siêu dữ liệu" được sử dụng để dịch từ "metadata". Thuật ngữ "siêu dữ liệu" này đã được sử dụng rất lâu trên giới giang hồ GIS và cũng không biết ai là cha đẻ của thuật ngữ khi dịch "metadata" sang tiếng Việt.
Ngày xưa khi tham khảo các dự án thấy mọi người sử dụng từ "siêu dữ liệu" mà không biết đó là dữ liệu gì? tại sao nó lại "siêu"? dữ liệu này lớn lắm ko? hay dữ liệu này cao siêu lắm????
Khi biết rằng từ gốc của nó bên tiếng Anh là Metadata : dữ liệu về dữ liệu...thì thấy nó có gì đáng gọi là siêu đâu. Thôi thì các đại ca sử dụng quen thì em cũng sử dụng theo vậy.
Có vẻ các sếp thấy từ "Meta" đứng trước chữ "data" nên dịch đại là siêu dữ liệu. "Meta" có nghĩa là "siêu", "siêu" có nghĩa là "Meta". Có phải vậy không? Một số định nghĩa lục trên mạng:

Như vậy lý do nào gọi metadata là "siêu dữ liệu"?
Theo tôi chẳng có lý do nào hết. Chỉ đơn giản nói riết nên quen miệng. Khi quen thì nói bậy cũng không biết mình nói bậy.
